Working Together to Keep Everyone Safe

At Miracle® Recreation, safety is at the forefront of everything we do. That’s why we are dedicated to meeting or exceeding the safety guidelines put in place for playground manufacturers. We not only comply, but also work closely with these organizations to develop guidelines that make play safer every day.

Today, some 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence. ASTM recently published a new “Standard for Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use” in 2017. Miracle Recreation closely follows these standards in all of our product designs and materials. Visit the ASTM website.
The Canadian Standard Association (CSA) is an independent standards development organization focusing on the Canadian market. Their most recent standard was revised in 2016 and is published as CAN/CSAZ614, Guideline on Children’s Playspaces and Equipment Standard.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is a government agency that sets product safety guidelines and practices. Their Handbook for Public Playground Safety, first published in 1981, includes guidelines for designing, constructing and maintaining public playgrounds. Visit the CPSC website.
Miracle Recreation is also a member in good standing of the International Play Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (IPEMA), a member-driven international trade organization which represents and promotes an open market for manufacturers of play equipment. In the interest of playground safety, IPEMA provides a Third-Party Certification Service whereby a designated independent laboratory validates a participant’s certification of conformance to ASTM F1487, Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use. The use of the corresponding logo in Miracle Recreation materials signifies that Miracle Recreation has received written validation from the independent laboratory that the product(s) associated with the use of the logo conforms with the requirements of the indicated standard. Check the IPEMA website to confirm product validation.
