Certifications and Safety Standards
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of material standards. Today, some 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence. ASTM recently published a new “Standard for Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use” in 2017. The International Standards Organization is a network of national standard institutes from 146 countries that work in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives to develop universal standards for quality, environmental and management processes. Miracle’s ISO 9001:2008 and ISO14001-2004 certification demonstrates documented, world-class manufacturing control practices are being employed to support our quality commitment to you and certifies Miracle’s environmental management commitment to minimize our operations effect on the environment.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is a government agency that sets product safety guidelines and practices. Their Handbook for Public Playground Safety, first published in 1981, includes guidelines for designing, constructing and maintaining public playgrounds. Visit the CPSC website.
The Canadian Standard Association (CSA) is an independent standards development organization focusing on the Canadian market. Their most recent standard was revised in 2016 and is published as CAN/CSAZ614, Guideline on Children’s Playspaces and Equipment Standard.
In the interest of playground safety, IPEMA provides a Third Party Certification Service whereby a designated independent laboratory validates a participant’s certification of conformance to ASTM F1487, Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use. The use of the corresponding logo in Miracle’s materials signifies that Miracle has received written validation from the independent laboratory that the product(s) associated with the use of the logo conforms with the requirements of the indicated standard. Miracle is a member in good standing of the International Play Equipment Manufacturer’s Assocation (IPEMA), a member-driven international trade organization which represents and promotes an open market for manufacturers of play equipment.
Miracle offers playgrounds that have been certified by TUV Product Service, the recognized testing house designed by the European Union. This certification demonstrates compliance with the European Harmonized Standard for Commercial Play Equipment, EN 1176.
Founded in 1899, the Amercian Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is the national professional association for landscape architects, representing more than 15,000 members in 49 professional chapters and 68 student chapters.
